Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal and a city bustling with people, history, nature, smell, and flavor! A city adorned by countless beautiful temples, monasteries, and stupas. A warm and kind city that’ll give you experiences you’ll never forget, Kathmandu.
Where to go in Kathmandu?
With so many places to visit and not enough time, perhaps you’re having difficulty deciding where to go in Kathmandu. Then fear not! Here is a list of the three must-go places in Kathmandu that you’ll not regret visiting!
Bhaktapur

An ancient city of the devotees; Bhaktapur was proclaimed the most well-preserved city of Kathmandu, however, the 2015 Earthquake caused some devastation. Nevertheless, even though some temples are in repair, many have still been preserved and this beautiful district has much to offer to the tourists.
Located around 13 km far from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur has a lot to offer to people. From the relic and stunning architecture, hustling and bustling of people, and street vendors; this city speaks history and grace.

And many more; the list would go on and on. This city is just marvelous. You can feel like you went back in the past walking along the roads here. Recommend visiting this gem if you’re already in Kathmandu or are planning on visiting Kathmandu.
Swayambhunath Temple

Swayambhunath, also famously known as “The Monkey Temple”; Swayambhunath Temple is one of the holiest shrines and one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists and Hindus.
Listed as a UNESCO world heritage monument, definitely a must-visit if you’re traveling to Kathmandu. Monkeys running around, beautiful sceneries, Swayambhunath Temple fulfills all your wishes. It’s spiritual and authentic. Moreover one of the best places to take a stunning picture!
Shivapuri Hill

Well-known hiking track with scenic views of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu valley from the summit.
It’s the second largest hill in Kathmandu, sitting at 2 732 m (above sea level). Shivapuri hill is a natural paradise and a perfect destination if you’re looking for a short trip to nature.
You can see the origin of the Bagmati River, considered a holy river for Buddhists and Hindus. Shivapuri hill is amidst flora and fauna and is notably one of the favorite destinations for bird watchers.
At the summit, you’ll find the monastery Nagi Gumba; a marvelous site for meditation.
